The artist
Rolf Lorenz
I see it as my duty to point out injustices, to comment on the world – using my own means and thus avoiding the bureaucratic red tape and cronyism. In other words, as an alternative to so-called active politics – which is undoubtedly necessary, but whose operation I view with suspicion.
My painting? A continuation of Klaus Staeck's work.

We'll be flying to the moon again soon. Then to Mars. Some of us want to go there because Earth could be doomed in 100 years. We have to plan ahead! Okay, for some it's also a simple business model. But let's ask what it would cost to bring environmentally friendly propulsion systems for everything that moves to market as quickly and technologically as possible? Or how can we get Nestlé, Danone & Co. to install recycling systems worldwide so that nothing ends up in the oceans, then later in the fish, and finally in us? Or how can we, the citizens and voters, support science in researching malaria so that no one has to die from it anytime soon? And Ebola. For example. But for whom does it really seem urgent to defeat the deadly viruses from the Congo? Elon Musk doesn't care, because he's flying to Mars!
Hello! Is anyone there?
